From time to time I will be posting things which I had posted awhile ago on another site and have in my archives. This story is a favorite and includes a comment which was posted on this thread from before from the owner of the "Broken Heart Stone" when he had seen it-he joined and had nice things to say so I am adding it at the end of this piece.

HERE IS THE STORY ABOUT THE STONE-THE AUCTION INFO (ENDS 2/15) LOTS OF PIX AND THE LINKS

Santa Maria man shares story behind Michael Jackson's "The Broken Heart Stone"
A twist of fate is the reason a Santa Maria man says he ended up with a unique piece of Michael Jackson memorabilia. It's being called "The Broken Heart Stone" and there's quite a story behind it. If you can believe this, it was actually lost for more than two decades before being found again.

The king of pop was at the top of his career with the Thriller album. In fact, Jackson won eight Grammys and his career seemed unstoppable. During that time, the pop star also created something special. Andrew Wilson, Jackson memorabilia owner, said, "I really believe it's something the world should see." It's a 500 pound cement slab dated June 1984 and features a hand print, footprints and autograph of Jackson.

Wilson said, "I was at the right place, at the right time." The former five time international Kung Fu champion and Santa Maria resident had formed a business relationship with Jackson. He said, "I was very supportive of him during the trial." Wilson even wrote a letter of support for Jackson to a local newspaper. "I got word back from the people at Neverland that Michael had seen it and was very pleased about it," said Wilson.

Wilson says that twist of fate came on the day Jackson died. He arrived in Las Vegas and ran into some of those same people. He said, "People at Neverland knew me and said oh my gosh, I think Michael would love for you to have this." They put him in contact with the then-owner of the impression. Originally, it was made for the Walk of Fame project for the city of Las Vegas but that never materialized. So what's shocking, the stone stayed hidden in the basement of the Riviera Hotel for more than two decades before being sold.

Wilson said, "You can actually look at his hand and you can actually see a heart print." The left palm print features a heart shape design with a crack running through it, that's how the name "The Broken Heart Stone" came about. "A broken heart represents not only Michael but the fans that loved him in his quick and immediate passing," said Wilson.
He goes on to say, "I think it's kind of a statement to the world. Yeah, I died with a broken heart and I have fans who have a broken heart because of me." It's a one-of-a-kind tribute now up for grabs. "The Broken Heart Stone" is being auctioned by a company specializing in Hollywood memorabilia. The auction ends Tuesday, February 15th.

THE AUCTION – ENDS 2/15/11

Michael Jackson's Full-Size & Original 30" x 30" Approximately 500 lbs, Footprints, Handprints & Autograph in Cement

From 1984 -- Perfect for Business, Casino, Home, Museum or Restaurant Display & Show Piece

Michael Jackson's original handprint, footprints and signature cast in cement. Unlike other celebrity handprint reproductions, this one-of-a-kind slab is authentically imprinted and signed by Jackson and comes with pictures of him during the ceremony.

The impression is dated "6/84" in the lower left corner of the slab, when the King of Pop was at the apex of his career, with his landmark album "Thriller" taking in eight Grammys that year. Almost exactly 25 years to the week before his tragic death on 25 June 2009, Jackson pressed his hand and feet into concrete in what was meant to become part of the Las Vegas Walk of Fame Project. Jackson, along with other celebrities, took part in placing his footprints, handprint and stylized autograph in wet cement. Yet the Las Vegas Walk of Fame Project failed to materialize.

The endeavor ended in 1984, and the autographed stone of Jackson's imprints went into storage in the Riviera Hotel's basement in Las Vegas, where it remained concealed for almost 21 years, hidden from the world as Jackson's career continued to thrive for over two decades.

The cement measures roughly 30" x 30" and is 4.5" thick and weighs roughly 500 pounds. Lot also includes a photo of a smiling Jackson with his shoes in the cement that was later made into a promotional poster. With COA from Riviera President and COO Mark Sterbens, who is standing beside Jackson in the photo and assisted him during the event. Fine condition. Custom encased to an overall size of 46" x 46".

An amazing, truly one-of-a-kind tribute to Michael Jackson.

Here is Andrew St. Wilson's comment-he is who this topic is about-he had seen the original thread:

"What a treasure he left us, a heartfelt emotion for all of us. I am Andrew Wilson, the owner of the Broken Heart Stone. It is such a blessing and a gift to share this with the world. I know that Michael would have been pleased to see that so many people from around the globe are touched by what he left us: And the Broken Heart Stone will always be a reminder of the love Michael had for his Family, his Friends, and his Fans. Thank you, Andrew"

Our own ljmissmj was involved on this thread when it was originally posted and gives her permission to repost her comment here:

Hi D, Early last year I had a brief correspondence with the owner of the piece (he pm'd me after reading my comment, wow). We spoke on the phone and via email's about Michael rather I rambled on about Michael and the fans. My conversation was very passionate because at that time many of Michael;s belongings were being sold to the highest bidder, many to private people. It seemed like nothing was being left for the general public and the fans to appreciate. At the time of our first conversation he was hedging towards donating the piece somewhere so fans/public could see it, YAY! That made me so happy when he said that, joy joy joy. So, I took a step further and left my comfort zone (bad mistacke on my part) and tried to arrange a viewing of stone with Andrew last year during 2nd Anniversary of Michael's passing. I reached out a few more times but he never responded back, alas, I never heard from him again.

Recently another fan mentioned that the BHS is on display in LA. I am so excited at the prospect of actually seeing this piece of Michael's history. I hope to find it when I'm out there in June.

Andrew, if you ever stop by here again, hello and I hope you are well - it was very nice speaking with you.

D: This story is very nice and thanks for re-posting.
hugs of love, Les
