Feds Raid Corrupt Congressman’s Closet
By Josh Sanburn
Sept. 17, 2013
Ladies' capes and autographed pop memorabilia are being auctioned off to repay campaign funds illegally spent by Jesse Jackson, Jr.
Excerpt:
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to live like a corrupt Congressman? What sort of music should I listen to while I’m illegally spending campaign funds?, you may have thought. What kind of 1980s autographed memorabilia would I display inside my lavish home? When I buy my wife a cape, should that cape be cashmere or mink?
The former Congressman’s belongings are being auctioned off online to the highest bidder by Gaston & Sheehan Auctioneers. Items like:
A framed and matted Michael Jackson autographed poster of the 25th anniversary of “Thriller” (starting at $300); a Michael Jackson autographed cymbal ($260)

The auction was yesterday-here is more about what happened:
After a sluggish start, bidding surged during the day for a framed poster dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” album – and signed by the pop star himself. By Tuesday evening, there were 45 bids for it – with the highest bidder willing to part with $1,560 for the pleasure of owning it.

Auction in Illinois Halted for Jackson Belongings
By: THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
September 20, 2013
After the authenticity of a guitar supposedly signed by Michael Jackson and Eddie Van Halen was called into question, the United States Marshals Service pulled the plug Friday on an online auction of items forfeited by former Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. The auction was intended to recoup part of the $750,000 in campaign funds that Mr. Jackson and his wife illegally spent on memorabilia, furs and other personal items. The agency announced Friday that it was canceling the auction “out of an abundance of caution.” Mr. Jackson was sentenced last month to a 2 ½-year prison term for scheming to spend campaign funds. His wife, Sandra, got a one-year sentence. Also Friday, Raghuveer Nayak, a onetime contributor to Mr. Jackson who was also a figure in scandals related to former Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich, pleaded guilty in a medical fraud case. Mr. Nayak admitted to charges that he bribed doctors to refer patients to surgery centers he owned. He faces a maximum 23-year sentence.
