SEE UPDATE: The Michael Jackson Estate Statement re` Katherine Jackson's FundAnything.com
12/20/13 UPDATE: The fundanything page for this "Remembering Michael" project has been removed. The video posted here no longer works. Looks like the MJE has stopped this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I received another email regarding this project:
Hello:
The Estate of Michael Jackson has no involvement with the solicitation of funds for the completion of the purported documentary film being promoted on the FundAnything.com internet site. The Estate would never ask Michael’s fans to contribute their money to finance any speculative project.
Furthermore, the site is offering merchandise bearing the Michael Jackson name, likeness and/or trademarks which are the intellectual property of the Estate of Michael Jackson and which may be legally exploited only by the Estate and by its authorized licensees.
The Estate will continue to release only the highest quality finished, professional projects showcasing the genius and humanity of Michael such as the This Is It film and the two very successful shows with Cirque du Soleil (Immortal and ONE).
Here is what the MJE is referring to:
"Remembering Michael" by Katherine Jackson
Welcome, fans. I would like to share an opportunity for you to join our circle of family and friends to celebrate the life and legacy of my son Michael Jackson.
It involves a tribute documentary film project that Michael’s children Paris, Prince, Blanket and I have been working on for a few years. Our goal with this film is to share a positive, loving and respectful tribute to Michael, who spent his entire life sharing his gifts with the great hope of making the world a better place.
The nearly finished documentary film project is a partnership between myself and co-Executive Producer, Terry Kunimune. It is filled with heart-warming anecdotes, rare photos from my personal collection, and many untold stories by his friends and family about Michael during some of the most pivotal moments in his life.
Telling Michael’s story from his family’s point of view needs to feature many video clips and musical moments that are an integral part of telling his life story. However, because it is Michael, the cost to license everything is prohibitively expensive, and why I am asking you, his fans, to join our circle and help support the completion of the documentary film.
In order to show our appreciation for your support, Michael’s children and I have created a limited collection of rewards not available in stores, but made available exclusively to his contributing fans.
Please join our circle of friends and family as I remember my son, as the children remember their father, and as we all remember our Michael. I thank you for your continued support.
Katherine Jackson
P.S. If Michael were here today, he would tell you, “I love you more.”
MJLIM Staff note: MJLIM does not advocate this - however we do wish this were being supported by the MJE (rather than the way this is being presented) and this documentary project was funded in any other way besides requesting money from MJ fans. We would love for this documentary from KJ to come to fruition however again, we do not advocate this campaign of fund raising.
Re: SEE UPDATE: The Michael Jackson Estate Statement re` Katherine Jackson's FundAnything.com
I have a suggestion: I have sent a number of questions to KJ on the "ask me" feature. I doubt she is who is answering however. It doesn't matter to me because the questions are not personal, rather they are about what exactly the breakdown of funds are for and are all proceeds going to charity-etc...
So ask questions Fan~mily!
MJ’s Mother Raises $2K Toward $3Mil Goal on FundAnything for Documentary
Here are news (TT & MSM) articles:
Michael Jackson’s Mother Raises $2K Toward $3Mil Goal on FundAnything for Documentary
12/17/13
Excerpt:
EXCLUSIVE- Really, I do not make these things up. Michael Jackson’s mother Katherine is trying to crowdfund $3.2 million on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] She wants to make a documentary about Michael with a Chinese businessman named Tetsunori (Terry) T. Kunimune. He’s the CEO of something called Poly Plants, and it looks like he’s a chemical engineer. How the Jacksons select business partners should be a case study at Harvard. So far they’ve raised $2.092.
[Insert the same text from the FundAnything.com site]
The attached art work comes from the Jacksons, aka the House of Tacky. Apparently Michael’s estate and executors didn’t know this was happening. Pass the Advil.
Personal note: This is an excerpt from the article - I am trying to get info on this man who is co-producing this documentary. Also as of right now - the money raised = $3,643 toward $3.2M. Also I believe that man is Japanese (seriously look at the name).
Katherine Jackson Invites Fans to Donate Money Toward ‘Remembering Michael’ Documentary
Katherine Jackson Invites Fans to Donate Money Toward ‘Remembering Michael’ Documentary
by Deseray
December 17, 2013
Now that the lawsuit against AEG didn’t end too well, Katherine Jackson is taking matters into her own hands, at least when it comes to the legacy and memory of her son, Michael Jackson. The matriarch, in partnership with co-executive producer, Terry Kunimune, is looking to complete a tribute documentary called “Remembering Michael,” a visual montage filled with heart-warming anecdotes and rare photos from her personal collection, and many untold stories by his friends and family. Due to the high-costs of licensing, the 83-year-old mother of 10 has decided to reach out to Michael’s fans for financial support via a crowd-funding campaign. She’s looking to raise $3.2M on FundAnything.com.
The documentary also sheds light on intimate details about the King of Pop’s personal life through the eyes of his children.
“It took me until I was, like, six years old, to learn that his name was Michael Jackson. He was always ‘daddy’ to me,” Jackson’s oldest son, Prince, 16, says in the documentary.Jackson’s youngest child, 11-year-old Blanket, also speaks publicly for the first time about his future aspirations. “I’m going to try to help, like Africa, because that’s a very poor continent,” Blanket says. “There’s a lot of animals that are being killed from, like, poachers and stuff. So, I want to help, like, endangered species of animals.”Paris, 15, describes the great lengths her father went to protect the children’s privacy. Their secluded upbringing included wearing veils and masks in public. “We didn’t know a lot of kids, like, our age,” she says. “We were more secluded. We never really left the ranch that often.”
“[Katherine] really wanted to fund this without asking any of the people around her, including the Michael Jackson estate, for funding,” Kirk Schenck, producer of “Remembering Michael,” told ABC News.
The children believe, sometimes, that Jackson’s eccentric lifestyle and behavior were misunderstood. “It’s not right to invade someone’s privacy like that,” Blanket says. In one scene from the preview, Prince talks about how his father pushed the children to be great. “He wanted us to always … be greater at it than anybody else had ever been,” Prince said.
Re: SEE UPDATE: The Michael Jackson Estate Statement re` Katherine Jackson's FundAnything.com
this must be the new "trend" which is the wealthy asking the not-so-wealthy to fund their projects?? Am I missing something? I never once thought the Estate was involved in this project. I normally do not voice opioins regarding Michael's family (especially his Mom) out of respect for Michael, but to ask MJfam for money for a documentary is disconcerting. Not for nothing I would think the family has enough money to produce and fund their own project with out my pennies or the aid of the Estate. We fans give of ourselves freely every day for the sheer love we have for Michael. We are the ones that are keeping Michael's legacy alive and we do it happily without charge or accolades. I don't mind contributing to my peers efforts for Michael, but a wealthy family, that's a whole other ball game. @Admin, I would be very interested in knowing information about how and where the monies collected is being distributed. Again thanks for posting.
Re: SEE UPDATE: The Michael Jackson Estate Statement re` Katherine Jackson's FundAnything.com
@Admin thank you for getting information regarding producer. I did watch the trailer and I was touched. But, asking fans for money?? still on the fence about that. I'm sure as time goes on and we learn more about this documentary, perhaps I may decide to contribute. Either way, if that is the artwork they're using - it's not good.
sidebar" There's so much of negative buzz and fan bashing surrounding this project on Twitter and FB, I'm tired of all the infighting. It's starting to be a turn off. It was mentioned on FB that the producer of this documentary also produced porn?? Our Admin found out the facts about the producer. I wish some of these fan groups on FB would do the same before bashing and hating. Tired of it.
Re: SEE UPDATE: The Michael Jackson Estate Statement re` Katherine Jackson's FundAnything.com
Yes I believe the "porn" thing is BS. There is a feature on the fund raising site (see link above) to ask questions. I suggest all do this.
Personally I believe this is another entity working from "behind the scenes" prompting KJ to do this. It never ends. I still think it is wrong to ask for $$ from fans for this. The co-producer could pony up the cash for the licensing for the project IMO. He is as we see a very wealthy man. So I said my piece on this.
MJ's children led 'secluded' life, claims a new documentary
12/17/13
Los Angeles: Late pop star Michael Jackson's Prince Michael, 16, Paris, 15, and Blanket, 11, have opened up about their lives with their late famous father in a new documentary 'Remembering Michael'.
They had little idea of what went on outside the walls of Michael Jackson's high-security Californian ranch, Neverland.
"There are a lot of bad people out there...(but he) always wanted (to give us) a taste of normal life... We didn't know a lot of kids our age. We were more secluded, we never left the ranch that often," contactmusic.com quoted the singer's daughter Paris as saying.
"He promised he would teach me how to moonwalk but never got around to it. I really hope his legacy lives on forever. I will never forget him ever. He was amazing," she added.
Meanwhile, Michael's eldest son Prince did not even know his father's name until he was six years old because he led such a sheltered lifestyle.
"He never really wanted to tell us who he is as a person. It took me until I was six years old to learn his name was Michael Jackson - he was always daddy to me and that was it," said Prince.
Even Blanket, who is usually shielded from the media, recalls some of his earliest memories before Michael tragically passed away in 2009 from a lethal dose of Propofol.
"Sometimes I would go in his room and watch videos of him dancing," said Blanket.
$3,716 so far.
I don't see anywhere on that page to post answers. Perhaps the email address used to sign up to ask the questions will be used. I also sent questions. I'll post anything I have when answered.
Re: SEE UPDATE: The Michael Jackson Estate Statement re` Katherine Jackson's FundAnything.com
Ok so I gave this some thought. I at first was excited-well I still am, it is MJ after all! BUT I agree that this is not the way to go about raising money for this. I also sent questions and I expect to have answers. If nobody receives answers, then I will be definitely feeling differently about just what really is going on here.
Another thing, raising that much money from fans in this economy seems like a stretch. So is the money returned as it supposed to be with these fund raising campaigns if they don't reach goal? They have to collect over 3 million dollars in a set limit of time. The only way this will have any credibility is if that occurs IMO.
Yeah I agree Capricious, with the economy the way it is, and the rise of unemployment, I don't think it's right to ask for money. Another thing, I think that contact music news article is putting Paris' comment a bit out of proportion, yes Michael protected his kids, but I don't think he isolated them, there's pictures of MJ and his kids with other children.
It never ends does it. Admin, thanks for the information. We can see even from the small snippets what the J3 said about Dad is already being twisted by the press. Smh...
I'm also in agreement with you all about where this money is going to end up and also why we as the fans should dip our hands into OUR pockets. It's wrong! wrong! wrong!.
Hi PureSoul! This is really too bad all this about this doc. I wish they would have gone through the MJE and would have done this right. It just gives all the Jackson bashers more stupid fuel for their ignorant fire. Someone is in KJ's ear and leading her astray again. smh
Re: SEE UPDATE: The Michael Jackson Estate Statement re` Katherine Jackson's FundAnything.com
Well I have a couple emails from that fundanything site. A hello and a handbook how to set up a fundraiser. Nothing in the form of an answer yet to my 2 questions.
I asked:
1-Are the proceeds gained from the documentary going to MJ's charities? (not the fundraiser money-the doc proceeds once it is released)
2-Why not go through the MJE to do the doc?
I will send many more as well. I have things to say about this-
Such as:
Who else is involved besides the Japanese chemical engineer?
Who is filming this?
What licenses are needed and how much do they cost to use?
Why so much? (over $3M)
I have more. Lots more.
Great questions Admin! I asked just one question: why isn't Michael's estate involved in this documentary?
As I expected, after reading another person's question (not here) it was not KJ who answered it.
Somebody calling themselves: "Remembering Michael Team"
Howard Mann is involved-NOT COOL!
Howard Mann is involved. This is BS then and SHOULD NOT be advocated period. See his partner's info and tweets. The tweets are since removed from Sonia Lowe's twitter which linked her to the documentary.
