I thought I would start a general chat thread without any specific topic at all-This can be where any conversation can happen-it can be about MJ or not-it can be a simple as I am leaving for the store - brb - or I don't know what to do about something and need a shoulder and an ear.

MJ fans are kind to one another and are always willing to be supportive - right? They are really funny too-having a bad day? Let's cheer each other up and show it is a great world in which to live even when there is still pain and we all miss Michael so much-this is a place to show how we learned from MJ how to treat each other and as we all know-to give is to receive! Razz

@midangerous: I study cosmology (all astro related scientific subjects) as a hobby-gets me off medical brain (my profession) - If you like that too-we can discuss subjects such as the latest collider info (God particle) expansion theory-etc.. I love astrophysics study

@midangerous: Thanks for the Curiosity pix-I watched on H2 last night (History 2 channel) 2 specials--1 was on the 1st 2 rovers sent to Mars and how they (NASA) thought they would be capable of running for no more than 6 months-when they both ran around Mars for 8 YEARS! Spirit was stuck in soft powdery substance on the Mars surface and they had to figure out how to get her unstuck-the day they finally were able to-was so close to winter-less solar energy on her panals so she ran out of juice and never was able to get out-and more dust was collecting on her panels which allowed even less energy-so they waited for winter to pass - hoping the panels would collect the solar energy-and then she could call home-they waited and waited but sadly she was not able to 'phone home' - I almost cried-you start to have attachment to her when she had so many struggles throughout her mission and her team on Earth loved her like an extension of themselves NASA said -

The next show was on Curiosity - how she is 5 times bigger and has a complete scientific lab aboard - so cool!!

I was looking thru the pages of older threads and came across this one so I thougt I'd bump it. I see we have a few people interested in space, thats cool, I want to do astronomy maybe my junior year of high school, we live in the country so when its dark when we get home I like to look up at the stars. I love trying to find constellations!

Speaking of space, (well not quite, but closely related in a way) I met and talked today with the guy who has designed and built particle accelerators all over the world! I was in the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility today for a state science bowl competition, and that is one of the very few places in the country to house one of these particle accelerators. I unfortunately nor were any of us allowed to see it Sad ,but like I totally feel like an insider on this whole experience lol. We were encouraged to apply for internships and research opportunities at the lab (which would be AMAZING) and was just a really awesome opportunity overall and I'm so glad I went on this trip this weekend.
