But the payoff was minimal...
BBC reports that a French court has sided with five Michael Jackson fans who said they experienced "emotional damage" after Jackson's death. They were given €1 ($1.36) for winning.
34 fans sued Dr. Conrad Murray, who was put in jail in 2011 for involuntary manslaughter. He served two years of a four-year sentence for giving Jackson a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol and was released in October. An appellate court rejected Murray's attempt to have his conviction overturned.
The court in Orleans ruled that five of the fans had emotional suffering. Two were from France, two were from Switzerland and one was from Belgium. Tehy were all members of the French-based Michael Jackson Community fan club. Their lawyer said they proved the "emotional damage" with "the help of witness statements and medical certificates."
Emmanuel Ludot said: "As far as I know this is the first time in the world that the notion of emotional damage in connection with a pop star has been recognized. They have been subjected to ridicule and I am delighted their suffering has been taken seriously by the law."
He added that the amount was "symbolic" and the five fans would not attempt to claim the money from Murray. The fans said they hoped the ruling would give them the ability to visit Michael Jackson's grave in Los Angeles, which is closed to the public. Jackson died on June 25, 2009. He had been preparing for a series of comeback shows at the O2 arena in London.

This is great! Let this be a lesson that just because a lawsuit could potentially lead to a large sum of money being won, usually for grieving families it's just the principle that someone has caused them much pain and suffering and their loved one is no longer here because of it. Hopefully this is the first of many along with an overturned verdict of the Jacksons V AEG case!

I saw another article about this and they said 34 people sued but only 5 were able to prove their case. There were 2 French-2 Swiss and 1 from Belgium that won. They posted this pix of MJ which I LOVE!!!!

Well, this is outstanding news. Shame this didn't include all of us. We have certainly suffered from Michael's loss.
This picture of Michael gets my pulse going, I've seen it before, I absolutely drool over it because it's such a natural, everyday-look he has. I prefer these poses of him rather than the well groomed smart images of him. Don't get me wrong, I also love him as much well dressed and groomed, but there's something more with his rugged casual look
