Lady Gaga Opens Philip Treacy's Michael Jackson-Themed London Fashion Week Show
By Jessica Misener

It seems like just last week we were watching Lady Gaga get live-tattooed inside a giant egg at the Guggenheim. (Well, because that was last week.)

But now that she's been properly inked, the Gaga took her performance art talents across the pond, hitting the catwalk for famous hat maker Philip Treacy's Michael Jackson-themed London Fashion Week show. (It's the designer's first in 13 years, though his hats are worn by countless celebs.)

Some of Treacy's famous pals such as Kim Cattrall, Grace Jones, Dita von Teese, Anna Dello Russo and Nick Cave sat in the front row of the show -- which required guests no matter how famous to walk through metal detectors before entering -- as models strolled out wearing some of Michael Jackson's most famous outfits on loan from one of the King of Pop's costume designers. (They're set to be auctioned off in December.) Gaga came out first in a flowy pink dress and towering shoes, declaring Treacy "the greatest milliner of all time."

Also strutting down the runway as part of the all-black cast of models was Alek Wek, who show off a hat with a giant glittery Jackson glove perched on it like a more flamboyant The Thing from the "Addams Family." The famous "Thriller" jacket also made an appearance, coming down the runway with a giant smiley face fascinator floating above it on a model's head. Other Treacy numbers? A giant jewel-encrusted face mask, one full body light tube encasement and a smattering of curlicue fascinators that looked ready for a royal party if we ever saw one.

Lady Gaga is (obviously) a Philip Treacy fan, having worn his famously eccentric headpieces on numerous occasions, including the famous telephone hat in the "Telephone" video. Another, more buttoned-up Philip fan? The Duchess of Cambridge, who has worn Treacy's fascinators at a handful of royal fetes.

Check out pics of Gaga doing her thang, as well as some of Treacy's outrageous toppers below! (Can you spot the "Thriller" jacket?)

Personal note: So I only posted the pix of the more 'MJ' themed pieces-what do you think about this?

OK I get the Brits like their "fascinators" but some of these - really? IDTS! I liked a few af the garments though, actually I have very similar pieces from days gone by as well as acquired throughout the last few years in my homage personally to honor MJ-I love my MJ inspired wardrobe pieces! This show really wasn't about the already been there and already been done (and we all wore/wear) clothing, it was about those crazy *** hats ok?

Yes, those hats hmmmmm. Michael wore his clothes well. He was always dapper. I like some of the fashions. I agree with Capricious as a fan of Michael's we've done it. However, it's nice that fashion gave a nod to Michael. God willing, I will wear sequins and rhinestones until I am old and gray. I will be a hip old lady for sure. Funny thing about the rhinestones, a friend of mine and I went shopping recently, and I was drawn like a moth to a flame to anything glittery and sparkly or had a military look. I picked up these great blinging flats and my friend looks at me and says "I never knew you liked that kind of stuff" I was thinking, "girl if you only knew"

Blingy? Sparkley? Military? Oh yeah - we do that! lol

My take on the "fascinator" show was that they know what people LOVE and it is MJ! I would just like to know that these people who 'use' MJ's amazing fashion sensibilites (perfection) which aside from being THE ONE and ONLY KOP rose his "OMG he looks so good" iconic stature through the stratosphere with his wardrobe/s and what he had to put in those clothes made the 'look' UNBEATABLE! (sighs for an extended period of time)

I honestly think people just bank up on Michael's beauty and his look he created and make their careers off HIS talent. There are a few too many people doing this and I for one am seeing right through the bullpucky - sorry people - but this was a HAT show by a HAT designer (who did not create a stitch of those clothes) that piggy backed off the 'MJ look' IMO to sell hats. Did you see those hats? Really?
