Tool Are Touring in 2014

So I get this email this AM with updates on TOOL and hot damn they are coming to SF! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I have followed TOOL since the 90's and have seen them (and Perfect Circle-same front man - Maynard) many times. They are the tightest band EVER! Here are a few articles about the band and tour with a couple videos thrown in for those who do not know who they are.

Tool will be touring in 2014. The band announced a series of March North American dates in on their website today. Tickets for the U.S. dates will go on sale January 25, and a pair of Mexican engagements have been booked as well. The last couple of months have been incredibly fruitful for fans of all things Maynard James Keenan, an avowed fan of Denzel Washington. A Perfect Circle shared their first new song in nine years, "By and Down." That group and Puscifer are booked to play the man's 50th birthday party. And the latter crew just released a two-hour DVD dubbed What Is... Puscifer. Furthermore, this new tour announcement fuels rumors (and rabid hopes) that Tool will be recording a new album this year. If so, we're bound to some news goodies at one of the concerts below.

Tool announce West Coast tour for March, fueling new album rumors [FULL SCHEDULE]

It's been a while since rock music fans have been able to catch Tool on the road, but now it seems at though this March will be their lucky chance. Yesterday (Jan. 21), Tool announced a small string of shows for this spring, the first time the band has toured North America since 2012.

In an announcement on its official website, Tool announced five concerts on the West Coast, including shows in Washington, Oregon, Nevada and California.

According to SPIN, the new tour is adding fuel to the fire that a new Tool album may be on its way, with these March dates as a way for the band to test new material on crowds. In various interviews with the music magazine, members of Tool have hinted that they were in the process of writing and working on new material since 2011, but no new album plans have come to fruition.

In July, drummer Danny Carey said a new album could be due out in 2014. "We could have the record finished by the end of the year - that's a possibility, but the logistics of getting it manufactured and getting the record company in line and all this stuff, I doubt we'll be able to get it out before Christmas," he said. "We'll see how it goes. Most likely, it'll be early 2014."

Tool have not released a new album since 2006's 10,000 Days.

Tickets will go on sale on Friday (Jan. 24) for the Portland, Eugene and San Francisco shows; tickets for Spokane and Reno will be available the following day (Saturday, Jan. 25).

VIP Packages will be available for each show for Tool Army fan club members, including access to sound check, special seating, and an exclusive merch pack.

PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME ON-SALE DATES HAVE ALREADY CHANGED. As of now, Portland, Eugene and San Francisco will go on-sale on FRIDAY (24th).

Spokane and Reno on-sales will REMAIN on Saturday (25th).

We will do a very limited number of the VIP pack pre-sale for Portland, Eugene and San Francisco on Thursday (23rd). This will be on Toolarmy.com at 10:00am PST
and then on Toolband.com at 3:00pm PST.

Then we will do another small number of VIP pack pre-sales for Spokane and Reno on Friday (24th) at 10am PST on Toolarmy.com and 3pm PST on Toolband.com.

Can't help but just have a little chuckle at this band;s name 'Tool'    Sorry guys, no offense whatsoever and by the sound of it they sound pretty good. What made them choose the name? It's just here in the UK we use the same name for a bloke that has made himself look daft lol. So we'd say something like 'What a tool he is". Our silly humour   

Actually we have no room to talk when it comes to our bands names either.

TOOL is an amazing band! I have always really loved these guys. I haven't seen them as many times as admin but I did see them in the early 2000's and they totally blew the doors off! They are one of the best bands I have ever seen and I am looking forward to their new album. I do have 10,000 Days and listen to it at least once a month or so. The lyrics are amazing and so meaningful. The way MJK writes about his mom in 10,000 days is heartbreaking but so loving. Too few bands are writing like this. I know you must be getting the VIP package huh admin? I know you and the merch bug! lol

Yes I am buying the VIP ticket so I can be with the band for sound check and of course the merch. I always get the tour merch-they have THE best long sleeve shirts and hoodies as well as massive sizes of posters for the tours with the most amazing art.

The meaning behind the band's name is they chose it because it means "a 'tool' to learn and gain from" - which I think is spot on for their music.

OK so I am ready to get the tickets this morning-I go to the site-put in info and wait for the page to come-and I wait and wait-then it came back to say NO TICKETS AVAILABLE!!! I DIE! I immediately run to TOOL Facebook page and see a LOT of crying-then I thought OK-this band will put on a second night and THEY DID!!! I got mine!!! WOOOHOOOOOO!!!

So I go back to FB and post the info and to go get the 2nd night quick-w/i minutes they were already gone! I found out the 1st night sold out in 30 seconds! 2nd show was gone in minutes! CRAZY!!
