Monday, Conrad Murray will walk out of a Los Angeles county jail after serving time for involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson; Jackson died on June 25, 2009. Conrad Murray, 60, was originally charged with manslaughter. Murray was sentenced to a four year prison term in October of 2011, but is being released early because of prison overcrowding in California.
Sunday, Michael Jackson’s family and fans around the world are angry about the news that Murray will be released early, according to Yahoo News.
Prosecutors showed that Conrad Murray administered a lethal dose of propofol and caused Michael Jackson’s death. Jackson’s children want nothing to do with Murray and have asked him to leave the country after he is released, but Murray acts as though he has a connection with the children. Numerous Jackson family members appeared in court during the trial.
Jurors in the trial were not allowed to watch video of Michael Jackson when he announced his comeback tour; Jackson appeared distraught and out of sorts. Murray’s lawyers said this was proof that Jackson was hung over, and that he was under an incredible amount of stress at the time.
Murray said that a news conference about the tour was delayed by 90 minutes because Jackson couldn’t pull himself together. Prior to the announcement, Jackson was also told that his tour would include 50 shows, not the initial 10 that he agreed to. The judge determined that the video wasn’t relevant to the case, and wouldn’t be used in the trial.
In February of 2010, Dr. Conrad Murray surrendered to police after being questioned several time about Michael Jackson’s death. Jackson died June 25, 2009, and it took nearly two months for the death certificate to be filed. His death was ruled a homicide in August 2009. Michael Jackson’s death certificate said that his death was due to “acute propofol intoxication” and “intravenous injection by another.”
