Feb 17 1998
Michael Jackson has plans to revive the benefit "We Are The World," which raised much needed funds for the children of Ethiopia in the 1980's.
The Associated Press is reporting that later this year, Jackson is planning a concert in the same vein, which will be a fundraiser for the starving children of North Korea.
The benefit, tentatively called "We Are The World 2," will be held on October 10 at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, South Korea and will be broadcast live in 120 countries.
Such artists as Luciano Pavarotti, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Boyz II Men, and athletes Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods, as well as Jackson's friend Elizabeth Taylor have been invited to participate in the concert to support the cause.
Also being contacted to record taped messages that will air during the show are world leaders Nelson Mandela and Pope John Paul II.
