Conrad Murray claims his testimony in Michael Jackson's wrongful death lawsuit would cause 'seismic shock' and has begged the Jackson family and AEG Live to leave him out of the case
Conrad Murray believes his testimony in Michael Jackson's wrongful death lawsuit would have ''catastrophic consequences'' for both AEG Live and the Jackson family.
The shamed doctor - who is currently serving four years in jail on an involuntary manslaughter charge relating to the King of Pop's death in June 2009 - says he just wants to be left alone after refusing to testify in the ongoing trial Michael's mother Katherine has brought against the concert promoters - which accuses the company of being responsible for negligently hiring Conrad to care for Michael as he prepared for his 50-date 'This Is It' concert residency at The O2 in London.
In a new voicemail, obtained by gossip website TMZ.com, he said: ''Everybody is asking me what I am going to do about this wrongful death lawsuit. I can tell you this, I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in the legal battle that exists with this lawsuit. I just want to be left in peace. I have my own legal battles to contend with. I strongly believe, however, that is to the benefit of both parties that I do not testify in their legal proceedings.
''If I am compelled to speak I can cause one party or the other to experience the impact of an immediate seismic shock. It would be so stunning. It is best to leave me alone.''
He added that his testimony would result in ''a total and complete debacle'' for both sides.
The $40 billion lawsuit got underway in Los Angeles on Tuesday (02.04.13) when jury selection began.
The trial is expected to last up to three months.
