Potential jurors offer crazy excuses as selection begins in lawsuit over Michael Jackson's death

One said karma, not a jury, should decide if negligence caused a death. Katherine Jackson and the King of Pop's three children are suing concert promoter AEG for billions for the alleged negligent hiring and supervision of Conrad Murray, the doctor convicted of causing the “Thriller” singer’s 2009 fatal overdose.
Another prospect said she might have to renew her driver's license ... in July. Neither she nor the karma prospect was excused from the pool of possible jurors. Michael Jackson and his mother, Katherine Jackson, exit the court room after his 2005 child molestation trial in Santa Maria, Calif.
Lawyers for Michael Jackson’s heirs and the concert promoter they’re suing for his death began questioning 104 possible jurors in a Los Angeles court Monday — and heard some off-the-wall excuses.
One juror said she believed karma, not a civil jury, should decide if negligence caused a death.
Another said she might have to renew her driver’s license ... in July.
Neither was immediately excused from possibly serving in the 90-day trial.
By day’s end, the jury pool shrank to 87.
Katherine Jackson and the singer’s three kids say AEG should pay billions for negligently hiring and supervising Conrad Murray, the doctor convicted of causing the “Thriller” singer’s 2009 fatal overdose.
Jurors filled out lengthy questionnaires asking what they’d heard about Michael Jackson's alleged drug problem and his 2005 molestation trial.
AEG says Jackson hired Murray and the company never signed off on his $150,000-per-month contract.
