Michael Jackson's dad Joe refused entry at Cannes after apparently forgetting his ticket

Well this is a bit awkward.
Michael Jackson's dad Joe rocked up to the Cannes film festival (more on why he's there later), walked the red carpet and was apparently then refused entry after forgetting his ticket.
According to a press release sent out before he set off for France, Joe Jackson made the trip to the world-renowned film festival to celebrate 'A Jackson Week of Celebrations' at the Private Villa Oxygen.
Hosted by some bloke called Richard Nilsson, who owns top venues Villa Oxygen and Superieur Lounge, the week long 'celebration' includes a VIP Gala Bash, Michael Jackson impersonators, exclusive clothing designers and fashion shows, with part of the proceeds from all these events being donated to the Jackson Family Foundation.
So it's a trifle embarrassing that no one recognised Mr Jackson senior when he arrived at the premiere of film Michael Kohlhaas.
Apparently Joe walked down the red carpet and posed for pictures before reaching the entry point at the top of the famous stairs, where he was then turned away. He then had to walk back down the red carpet.
Perhaps he should have moonwalked it.

Personal note: I don't think this should have happened to poor Joe. You can't tell me the people at Cannes didn't know who he was or that he was coming. IMO Joe shouldn't have even needed a ticket and should have been a distinguished guest.

I agree WATW. There is no reason to diss old Joe J IMO. Regardless of personal views about certain issues he should have been shown the respect he does deserve (plus he is an older man now). Why shun him after he has gone through so much in his life?
