On June 10, 1993 Michael Jackson makes an appearance at an afternoon rally at a middle school in Los Angeles to launch a new DARE programme called DAREPLUS (Drug Abuse Resistance Education - Play and Learn Under Supervision).

I didn't know MJ was affiliated with this program. I and the rest of 6th graders at my middle school had to go through a DARE program when I was younger, and at the end of the year the entire grade went to this baseball game with like 12 other schools in southern VA and there was a DARE banner contest that a group of students from each school in my part of the state would work on for a couple months and I was chosen as one of the 5 or 6 people to work on it. We ended up winning 2nd place I believe and we got the banner printed on T-shirts, it was really cool.
