A moment of Silence on 9/11

Tuesday will mark 11 years from that horrible tragedy. If you all can, please share a moment of silence on that day to remember. You may also share your own experiences of that day on this thread.

I have a hard time communicating about this subject-I light several candles and have a lot of pictures books and materials that I get out every year to put around the house throughout the rooms to commemorate the lives of those lost. The many in the towers working and visiting and the bravest ever that ran in - but sadly - not out. The families remain in my prayers.

At my school the JROTC put on their annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony in which the whole school stood together in prayer and remembrance and listened to a guest speaker. I really think it is great that all the high schools in my county have some sort of event happen on that day- such as an assembly or a moment of silence.

I was only about 4 years old and in preschool on 9/11/2001, but I still remember the scared and shocked looks on my parents faces and catching glimpses of the news coverage- it was absolutely terrifying at even that young age and I had not fully understood what had happened for another couple of years. It's just one of those days that you never forget no matter what age you are.

My thoughts and prayers are with the victims' families and friends. I am very thankful to live in a country of such brave men and women- from the passengers of flight 93- to the firefighters and police officers that risked their lives going back into the debris to save the lives of others.

@midangerous: Thank you for posting! That is especially poignant today after the attack on our embassy! Prayers for the families who have been terrorized yet again by the enemy and condolences for the families of the fallen. God keep them and love them and pour strength into them to endure the aftermath of this tragic senseless and brutal hate filled attack on our fellow Americans.
