"This Day in HIStory" February 1, 1974 ~ The J5 Perform In Senegal.

February 1, 1974 The Jackson 5ive perform at Dakar, Senegal Demba Diop Stadium.
The Jackson 5 expanded their global reach yet again in the new year, traveling to Africa, where they performed in Dakar, Senegal, a visit that was filmed and is the subject of a soon-to-be-released documentary. Upon arrival, the group was greeted like royalty, as Michael would later remember:
“When we came off the plane in Dakar, Senegal, Africa, we were greeted by a long line of African dancers. Their drums and sounds filled the air with rhythm. I was going crazy, I was screaming, ‘All right! They got the rhythm… This is it. This is where I come from. The origin.’”
The Jackson 5 receive the Organization of African Unity award – For Strengthening Afro-Americans.
