About "Remember the Time: Protecting Michael Jackson in His Final Days"
Michael Jackson's former bodyguards reveal the amazing truths of the superstar's final 2 years--his life in hiding with his children, the financial crises that forced him into the ill-fated This Is It tour, and the events that led to his shocking death.
On the brink of financial ruin and driven from his beloved sanctuary at Neverland , Michael Jackson spent his final years living like a nomad, moving his 3 children from the Middle East to Ireland to Las Vegas to Virginia and finally back to Los Angeles, living in near-total seclusion in a futile attempt to escape a world that wouldn't leave him alone.
Starting with Jackson's secret return to the U.S. in 2006, Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard--a veteran security professional and a brash, untested rookie, both single fathers themselves--served as the singer's personal security team. Stationed at his side nearly 24/7, they were the gatekeepers between Michael and the outside world, making them the only 2 men who know what 60 million fans around the world are still desperate to find out: What really happened to the King of Pop?
How Michael and his children stayed under the radar from day to day; the efforts required to give the 3 kids some semblance of a normal life; the simple joys they found to fill their days; the true extent of Michael's financial crises (Whitfield and Beard were often not paid for months); the open warfare with the Jackson family; and the star's increasing paranoia--the truth is far more compelling than anything previously reported.
An indispensable piece of pop-culture history, Remember the Time is the heartfelt story of a tragic and troubled family, the devastating cost of fame, and the lengths to which a father will go to protect and provide for his children. Remember the Time dismantles the tabloid myths once and for all and gives Michael Jackson back his humanity.

I've been reading this book, I like it so far, but the only thing I really don't like is that MJ's bodyguards put foul words in the book, that's not appropriate.

Re: Michael Jackson Bodyguards finally published their book!
HI midangerous
I read the book, at least 2 months ago so I'm a little hazy about the foul words but I think you might be referring to them inferring that Michael cursed a lot using a lot of the 4 letter word. In all of my reading I have gotten the impression that MJ did not curse nor did he like people cursing around him. There were other things that I didn't like about the book along with the same thing that I have found and disliked in nearly all of the books that I have read is that no one is getting Michael and his children's name correct. I find this almost as disturbing as hearing people say that MJ cursed a lot. Most books have everyone's name different in different parts of the same book.
midangerous I will start refreshing my memory with rereading through the Bodyguard book right away. I believe that with MJ's upbringing and the way he intended on raising his children I believe that the cursing was not coming from Michael nor would he allow it around his family. I also read that cursing was not allowed on the producing of his short films. I'm no goody 2 shoes and I have done my share of cursing and afterwards I have to be honest that I feel like a lesser person so I am trying to watch myself closer and not curse because you don't know who is watching/listening (children) who will pick your behaviour and vocabulary up quite fast.

I agree Mi, but meh, I just ignore it. They're telling the story so...whatever. I'm done with the book and I loved the heck out of it!! I just got Frank's book and started that one today, I love it too! I also have Michael Jackson Inc. That I started, I love it. I love how there are so many positive books about Michael out now!

@Ploppy, it was the bodyguards that were saying the foul words as they were talking in the book.

Re: Michael Jackson Bodyguards finally published their book!
Hi midangerous, yes, you are correct as I have just started to read the book again, and yes there were a few choice words that Bill, especially used when things happened out of the blue. I'm not totally sure if they needed to be quoted in the book - I'm thinking that it was just the way that he spoke in real life and he was telling a story of what he experienced out of surprise. And yes, he might have taken it too far at times and as a reader and strong MJ fan I wouldn't want new MJSLIM members thinking that that was the way that we spoke or that was anywhere near how MJ spoke. Also, we all know that Elizabeth Taylor was one of Michael's best best friends...he adored her and yet I have read that she had the biggest potty mouth comparable to that of a salty old sailor!! Go figure. I have caught myself cursing and even remember that there were children around and had to watch it which is hard. I don't curse on purpose - sometimes it is to draw extra attention to a statement I am making or I am surprised at what just popped up in front of me. We could go on and on and still have to agree that he (Bill mostly) did swear a lot when telling his side of the story and I'm sure that MJ being human did sometimes let some words slip as he got further and further paranoid and frustrated in just who he could trust near the end and let a few choice words "Xscape"! But we still love him and he would want us to cut Bill some slack even though his (Bill's) writing did throw even me off sometimes...as you don't expect those words to come up when reading about MJ. Let's put that aside a wish Michael a very happy 56th birthday today. I'm going to check some other sites to see if there is a special Happy Birthday Michael thread, otherwise I'll start one.
