Joe Jackson in trouble with tax officials

July 1st, 2013

Michael Jackson's father has landed in trouble with U.S. authorities after allegedly failing to hand over $2,720 (£1,754) in taxes.

Joe Jackson was hit with a lien from officials at California's Franchise Tax Board, who claim the former talent manager's overdue bill dates back to 2010, according to TMZ.com.

The 84 year old now lives in Las Vegas, where his late son's Cirque du Soleil tribute show, Michael Jackson ONE, premiered to much fanfare on Saturday (29Jun13).

Jackson, who is estranged from the family, did not attend.

It has been a rough year for the star - he suffered three strokes in late 2012 and he recently became caught up in a legal dispute with Wade Robson after he allegedly made slanderous comments about the choreographer in an online video.

Personal note: The CA Tax Franchise Board has nothing to do with the US authorities - get your facts right Simpson! Shocked Rolling Eyes

Less than 3K is hardly a criminal offense for Pete's sake. Everybody pays a lot more than that yearly here in CA to the state of CA tax board believe me-anything to smear Joe. What a crock to publish this when in the same breath they say he had the strokes and health problems-like this smearing helps his health? -typical crap!

I totally agree Admin. These people just need to leave Joe alone, the guy is in his 80s and has been through so much crap, it's so disrespectful to be like this to him.
