Jury Finds AEG Innocent of Michael Jackson’s Death
JD Journal

10/3/13

A jury in Los Angeles this past Wednesday found that concert promoter AEG who contracted Dr. Conrad Murray was not liable for the drug overdose and consequential death of the king of pop.

Dr. Murray was found to be competent, and the company who hired him, AEG will not have to give the Jackson family millions in compensation. Dr. Murray was licensed to practice in several states, and had a spotless record. He is currently in jail for “killing Michael Jackson” according to CNN, but AEG commented, “we have said from the beginning that this case was a search for the truth.” Dr. Murray will be released from his incarceration by the end of this month after he served two years in prison for “involuntary manslaughter.

Though this part of the five month long trial is finished, Jackson’s mother and three kids sued the concert promoter in 2010, and their lawyers commented that they have “grounds for an appeal.” Michael Jackson was scheduled for his comeback tour in 2009 and days before the debut he passed away. During the 21 week trial, jurors were immersed in the world of facts, details, possibilities and dramatic testimony.

As AEG was found innocent by the jury, they wont have to give damages which lawyers for the Jackson estate suggested would be more than 1 or 2 billion dollars.

Personal note: It is incorrect that AEG said this: "but AEG commented, “we have said from the beginning that this case was a search for the truth.” Dr. Murray will be released from his incarceration by the end of this month after he served two years in prison for “involuntary manslaughter."
