Attorneys Waived Oral Arguments On Murray’s Appeal

LOS ANGELES — Attorneys have waived oral arguments on an appeal by Michael Jackson’s doctor of his involuntary manslaughter conviction for the singer’s death.

Murray’s attorney Valerie Wass and Supervising Deputy Attorney General Victoria B. Wilson filed letters with the court Tuesday waiving arguments unless justices have specific questions.

An appeals court in Los Angeles had set arguments in former cardiologist Conrad Murray’s appeal for Jan. 9.

Wass says the decision was made because both sides had filed extensive papers laying out the grounds for the appeal and why prosecutors believe it should be denied.

Murray was convicted in 2011 of giving Jackson a fatal dose of the anesthetic propofol. He was released in October after serving two years in jail.

The appeal is a joke-it will never happen. Just trying to go after Judge Pastor is ludicrous!

Today was the day CM appeal arguments were to begin. Since the oral arguments were waived (probably because the killer has no money to pay lawyers) and since there are other reasons such as the courts already said there were no grounds-see below article written before the OP piece:

Former cardiologist Conrad Murray is appealing his 2011 criminal conviction for his role in the death of Michael Jackson. The California 2nd District Court of Appeal in Los Angeles has scheduled arguments in the case for January 9th, 2014. Murray is appealing on various grounds including that the judge excluded jurors from hearing key evidence and should have sequestered jurors on the high-profile case. Prosecutors contend that the claimed errors were not errors at all and do not form the basis for granting a new trial. Murray was convicted of causing Jackson’s death by giving the singer an overdose of the anesthetic propofol on June 25, 2009, and was released from jail in October after serving 2 years of a 4 year sentence. Despite having been released from prison and on probation, Murray has a vested interest in overturning his conviction as a felony conviction may prevent him from regaining his medical license.
